At around 11:00 a.m. yesterday, a person who witnessed an accident called 119 to report that a pedestrian and a car collided at a signaled intersection in Tanabe-dori, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya City.

According to the fire department, two girls in the early to middle grades of elementary school were hit by the car and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police have arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of negligent driving and are investigating the circumstances of the accident in detail.

At elementary schools in Nagoya, a graduation ceremony was held yesterday.
