In February of this year, NTT DOCOMO Mobile Research Institute surveyed men and women aged 15 to 79 about how they spend their private time on weekdays.
As a result, the time spent using smartphones exceeded the time spent watching TV for each generation from teens to 40s. However, for holidays, the time spent watching TV in the 40s slightly exceeded the time spent using smartphones.
On the other hand, for each age group above 50s, TV viewing time far exceeds that of smartphones, especially among those in their 70s, with about 80% of them reporting that they spend more time watching TV.
