According to the police and fire department, at around 10:20 a.m., there was a report that the fourth floor of a building in Sonezaki Shinchi, Kita-ku, Osaka City was on fire.
The fire was almost extinguished after about 30 minutes, but 28 people, 17 men and 11 women, were injured. 27 people were carried from the 4th floor, which is believed to be the source of the fire, and according to the hospital to which they were transported, 5 people died and 22 people were in cardiopulmonary arrest.
The building is eight stories high, and the fourth floor, where the fire is believed to have originated, houses a clinic that treats patients with psychosomatic medicine and other conditions. The police are investigating the situation at the scene as arson is suspected.
