The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will be accepting applications for the distribution of “antigen test kits” to those in close contact with the disease from 9:00 a.m. today until the 27th of this month on a dedicated website.
People living in Tokyo who have been designated as a close contact, or who have been contacted by an infected person as a close contact, are eligible. The antigen test kit will be delivered to your home within a few days of application.
You take a sample of mucous membrane or other material from the back of your nose by yourself, and you can see the results in 15 to 30 minutes.
The metropolitan government hopes to alleviate the burden by distributing antigen test kits, as the spread of the infection has led to a concentration of examinations and consultations of people in close contact with the disease at fever outpatient clinics.
