(EN) 08/30/2023 YAMAGUCHI - Police have arrested an unemployed 64-year-old man in Ube City on suspicion of killing his 85-year-old mother by scalding her with boiling water. The man arrested on suspicion of murder is Hidetaka Chijimatsu, 64, of Showa Town, Ube City. According to the Ube Police Station, Chijimatsu is suspected of scalding and fatally injuring his mother, Keiko, 85, by pouring boiling water on her body at their home sometime between 9 p.m. the day before yesterday (27th) and around 2 a.m. yesterday (28th). Chijimatsu reportedly contacted his younger brother, telling him that he had killed their mother. The younger brother confirmed this at the home and then reported it to the police. Chijimatsu is said to have admitted to the allegations, stating, "There is no doubt that I scalded and killed my mother with boiling water." Chijimatsu lived with Keiko. Keiko had a leg disability and was in a state where she needed care, as she was unable to walk on her own. According to the police, Keiko had burns over a wide area on the front of her body, including her abdomen and chest.
