Quase 60% das pessoas no Japão desconheciam a orientação governamental de que o uso de máscaras ao ar livre para proteção contra o coronavírus é desnecessário na maioria dos casos, resultados de pesquisas recentes mostraram.
Embora as diretrizes tenham sido emitidas em maio e a posição do governo sobre o uso de máscara tenha permanecido inalterada desde então, a pesquisa constatou que 18,4% dos entrevistados não tinham conhecimento da orientação, enquanto 40% sabiam dela, mas não dos detalhes específicos, de acordo com os dados da empresa de pesquisas Laibo Inc.
Em comparação com os 58,4% que desconheciam, 41,6% disseram que sabiam da orientação e seu conteúdo, de acordo com a pesquisa.
O uso de uma máscara continua sendo a norma no Japão, apesar de 72,7% dizerem que são a favor de abandonar a prática. Entre os entrevistados, 33,9% disseram que eram a favor do uso de máscaras, enquanto 38,8% responderam que eram "um pouco" a favor.
A pesquisa realizada on-line de 12 a 17 de outubro obteve respostas de amostra de 1.011 adultos trabalhadores, com 52,5% dizendo que as explicações governamentais sobre orientação foram insuficientes, incluindo informações de que o uso de máscara também é opcional em áreas internas silenciosas e espaçosas.
