More than 30,000 cases of the new coronavirus have been confirmed today nationwide, more than last week.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced today that 4,384 new cases were reported, down 160 from last Monday. On the other hand, the average number of new cases over the past seven days was approximately 7,600, or 116% of last week’s total.
Here are the announcements by prefecture. So far today, 30,031 cases have been announced nationwide. After Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture had the second highest number of cases at 3,055, followed by Saitama, Chiba, and Hokkaido.
There are 505 seriously ill people hospitalized nationwide, and 44 new deaths have been confirmed.
