Regarding the new coronavirus, 16,808 infections were announced today nationwide.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced today that 2,772 new cases of the new coronavirus have been reported. This is an increase of 1,255 cases from last Monday and the 17th consecutive day higher than the same day of the previous week. The utilization rate of beds for new coronas was 21.1 percent.
A total of 16,808 cases were reported nationwide, an increase of more than 7,000 from last week. The number of cases is on the rise nationwide, with 46 prefectures, excluding Yamagata Prefecture, reporting more cases than on the same day last week.
Of those hospitalized, 62 are considered “seriously ill” and 14 new deaths have been announced.
