HYOGO – A passenger car and a large truck collided head-on on a national highway in Kato-shi, Hyogo Prefecture, killing two women in the passenger car, leaving one in critical condition and another seriously injured.

At around 2:40 p.m. on July 13, a passenger car veered into the oncoming lane of traffic on a national highway in Kamimikusa, Kato-shi, and collided head-on with a large truck coming from the opposite direction.
Two people were killed in the accident, Yukio Sakamoto, 64, who was in the passenger seat of the passenger car, and Kazuko Karino, 63, who was in the rear seat.
A 50-year-old woman sitting in the backseat is in critical condition, and the driver, a 63-year-old man, suffered a broken lumbar vertebra and other serious injuries but is conscious.
The driver of the large truck was not injured.
The scene was a straight road with good visibility, and the police are investigating the details of the accident by interviewing the driver and others.
