Nationwide, 126,576 new cases of the new coronavirus were announced yesterday. This is a record high for a Monday, when the number of infected people tends to be small.

Of these, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced yesterday that 22,387 people were newly infected, exceeding 20,000 for the sixth consecutive day and the highest number ever recorded by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for a Monday.
A total of 126,576 infections were announced nationwide. This is an increase of more than 50,000 cases from last Monday, and almost all prefectures have more cases than the same day of the previous week.
The number of “seriously ill” infected patients hospitalized nationwide is 249, and 48 new deaths have been announced.
