Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on October 10, a person on the platform of Koshunai Station on the JR Hakodate Line in Koshunai-cho Kita, Bibai City, was struck and killed by an Asahikawa-bound express train passing through the station.
The sex and age of the deceased are not known, and the police are hurrying to confirm his/her identity.
The train driver said that a person ran from the platform and jumped onto the tracks.
As a result of this accident, JR Hakodate Line trains were temporarily suspended between Iwamizawa and Takikawa, and 10 trains, including 6 limited express trains, were suspended.
