Man caught red-handed attempting to rob a police station with a saw in his hand, saying, “Please give me a gun so I can kill myself.”
OSAKA – On January 18, the Matsubara Police Station of the Osaka Prefectural Police Department arrested an unemployed man (35), self-identified as a police officer in Matsubara City, Osaka Prefecture, on suspicion of attempted robbery, for breaking into a police box with a saw and attempting to rob a police officer of his gun.

The suspect admitted to the charge, “I tried to commit suicide by taking the gun from the officer.”
The suspect allegedly broke into the police box in front of Kawachi Matsubara Ekimae, Matsubara Police Station, Ueda, Matsubara City, at around 5:10 p.m., holding a saw and tried to take a gun from a male police sergeant, 45, who was working at the police box.
The man was persuaded by the sergeant to let go of the saw and was subdued shortly after. No one was injured, and the police are investigating the details of the incident.
