The Toyama Labor Bureau found that the number of foreign workers in Toyama Prefecture as of the end of October last year was 12,221, the highest number ever since notification became mandatory.

The record is an increse of 754 from the same period the previous year and a record high since 2007, when notification became mandatory.
This is likely due to the gradual relaxation of waterfront measures for the new coronas and the increased acceptance of foreign workers and students.
By nationality, Vietnam accounted for 30% of the total, with the largest number of 4,075. China, the Philippines, and Brazil followed. By status of residence, the most common category was “technical internship,” accounting for 42.2% of the total.
