US Marine Arrested on Suspicion of Car Theft; Suspicion Denied While Intoxicated
YAMAGUCHI – A US Marine based in Iwakuni was caught red-handed stealing a passenger car on a street in Iwakuni City.

The suspect, Helder Molina, 29, a corporal at the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, was arrested on suspicion of theft.
According to police investigations, a woman who had parked her car on a street in Maribu-cho, Iwakuni-shi, at around 6:00 a.m. called 110 and reported that her car had been stolen.
Police officers were searching the area near the scene in their patrol car when they found a car matching the description of the missing car and asked them to stop, and the suspect driving the car, Molina, was apprehended in the act.
The suspect was confirmed intoxicated.
The woman said the car was gone a short time after she left with the engine running.
