Five people injured after a car plunges into a supermarket in Inazawa City

AICHI – On the morning of May 13, a car plowed into a JA supermarket in Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture, seriously injuring five people.

The man driving the car said that he accidentally stepped on the accelerator insted of the brake pedal.
The incident ocurred at around 9:45 a.m. wherein a customer of the store called 119 to report an accident at JA’s supermarket in Inazawa City, saying that someone was injured in the accident.
The passenger car broke the glass of the store and plowed into the store. A customer in her 70s who was involved in the accident suffered serious injuries and a fractured pelvis, and was rushed to the hospital by a medical helicopter.
In addition, another three female customers and an employee in her 60s also sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The 80-year-old man driving the passenger car was not injured and said that he accidentally stepped on the gas pedal when he tried to stop the car.
