Baby’s corpse found on Arakawa riverbed, Yorii-machi, Saitama

SAITAMA – A corpse of a newborn baby was found on the bank of the Arakawa River in Yorii-machi, Saitama Prefecture. Police are questioning a Vietnamese couple who are believed to be the parents of the baby.

At around 0:30 a.m. on the 21st of June, a Vietnamese man called 119 to report that his wife was not feeling well.
When firefighters rushed to the man’s home in Saitama Prefecture, his Vietnamese wife was bleeding from the abdomen, and the man accompanied her to the hospital.
The doctors learned that the woman gave birth and the man told the paramedics that he buried the baby near the river, and as a result of a police search of the Arakawa riverbed that runs through Yorii-machi, the body of the baby was found.
The police are questioning a Vietnamese couple believed to be involved in the case as a case of body dumping.
