TOKYO – Early today, a man was struck and killed by a mini car on a national highway in Ota Ward, Tokyo. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the possibility that he was hit by more than one vehicle.

At around 4:30 a.m. today, a man was hit by a mini-car on Route 15 in Nakarokugo, Ota Ward, and was pronounced dead on the spot.
In this accident, the Metropolitan Police arrested Yoshifumi Wakabayashi, 53, who was driving a mini-car, on suspicion of manslaughter by negligent driving. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the man was trying to cross the road and was hit. The man was sent flying into the opposite lane by the accident and may have been hit by another vehicle, killing him.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is working to identify the man and is further investigating the details of the situation at the time of the accident.
