The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced 13,074 new infections. This is a decrease of 4,452 from last Sunday and the fifth consecutive day below the same day of the previous week. The average number of new infections over the last seven days is about 15,714, about 0.87 times the number a week ago.
After Tokyo, Osaka had the second highest number of infected people with 12,574, followed by Kanagawa with 7,941 and Aichi with 5,466.
A total of 77,450 people have been reported to be infected nationwide. Of those hospitalized nationwide, 1,366 are in serious condition, up 14 from the previous day. The number of deaths was 136.
