The previous record number was 2,520 on January 7 this year, but this number is more than 300 more than the previous record. The average number of tests for the last three days was about 9,300.
By age group, 951 people in their 20s, 610 people in their 30s, 466 people in their 40s, and 301 people in their 50s were most affected, and 78 people aged 65 and over were at high risk of serious illness.
In addition, two new deaths have been announced. The number of infected people currently hospitalized who are considered “seriously ill” according to the metropolitan government’s criteria increased by four to 82 from 78 the day before.
