For the third day in a row, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus has dropped below 2,000.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced yesterday that 267 people have been newly infected, and 17 people have been confirmed dead, including a man in his 40s and five men and women in their 50s.
The number of people infected in 17 prefectures, excluding Ibaraki and Shiga, fell below the level of the same day the previous week.
According to a summary by JNN, 1,987 new infections have been announced nationwide, bringing the total number of infected people to over 1.7 million.
This is the first time in about two months that the number of infected people hospitalized nationwide has fallen below 1,000.
