The suspect, Hiroki Horie (24), an office worker from Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of assault. The suspect is suspected of hitting his two-month-old son on the seat of a car parked in the parking lot of a drugstore in the town of Oko on October 5, causing serious head injuries. The eldest son is in a critical condition, unconscious due to acute subdural hematoma.
Horie and his wife took the eldest son to the hospital because of his sudden change in condition. After that, the eldest son was rushed to a hospital in Mito City, where the hospital became suspicious of his injuries and called the police, who discovered the incident.
In response to the investigation, Horie admitted to the charges, saying, “There is no doubt about it,” and the police are investigating the possibility that he abused the child on a daily basis.
