71-Year-Old Man Arrested for Removing Letter Packs from Mailboxes: “I’ve Done About 100 Cases”
KANAGAWA – A 71-year-old man who is believed to have been repeatedly stealing letter packs from mailboxes in Kawasaki City for about five years has been arrested by police.

The suspect, Takuji Sano, 71, an unemployed man living in Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City, was arrested on suspicion of stealing two letterboxes in June and August this year by reaching into a mailbox in Kawasaki City and removing them.
According to the police, one of the packages contained women’s spats, but Sano replaced the contents with bras and put them back in the mailbox.
A number of letter packs and women’s underwear were seized from Sano’s house, and during the search, Sano said that he wanted to do something stupid. He stated that he had done about 100 cases over the past five years, and the police are investigating additional crimes.
