KANAGAWA – A cluster of 55 children and staff members were infected with the new coronavirus at a daycare center in Minami Ashigara City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to the Kanagawa Prefecture, one child was found to be infected at a nursery school in Minami-Ashigara City on the 17th of last month, followed by a series of infections, and by the 9th of this month, a total of 55 people were confirmed to be infected, including 14 staff members and 41 children.
A parent whose child was infected at this daycare center and who herself was recently found to be positive for the disease said.
“I’m beyond angry, I’m stunned. I was on my way to Kyoto from that night (September 17) to the 20th for a company trip. Both Kanagawa Prefecture and Kyoto are in the midst of declaring a state of emergency.”
According to this parent, the first child was confirmed to be infected on the 17th of last month, and the nursery did not contact the parent even after it became clear that the staff and others were infected.

According to the Kanagawa Prefectural Government, the nursery school has been closed since September 1, and as of now, all the infected people are either mildly ill or asymptomatic, and no one is seriously ill.
