Just after 8:00 a.m. yesterday, a 14-year-old male junior high school student was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife in the stomach area at Jyushiyama Junior High School in Yatomi City, Aichi Prefecture.
The boy’s friend said, “He was interesting to talk to and could greet people well. He was a leader in student council activities, and I’m sad to see him go.”
The police have arrested a 14-year-old male student from another class in the same year on suspicion of attempted murder.
In response to the incident, the school held a parent-teacher conference yesterday evening. The parents asked questions about the school counselor and requested consideration for students taking entrance exams.
Parents who attended the meeting
One parent who attended the meeting asked, “If my child is afraid to go to school, what will you do if he’s absent?” The school said, “We don’t treat it as an absence. If you can’t come to school without worrying, please let him take a rest.”
The police have changed the charge to murder and will send the male student to the prosecutor’s office today.
